The Powys CAMHS School In-Reach Service has been developed from Welsh Government direction to work in supporting schools to support learners through a Whole School Approach to emotional health and wellbeing. This Service contributes to the priorities set out in the Health and Care Strategy for Powys. Working in this team requires significant communication and liaison with internal and external stakeholders and schools, the ability to work collaboratively and in co-production with other services. The team is Pan-Powys and there will be a requirement to travel, with this position being based in South Powys. - Provide advice and support to relevant professionals.
- Undertake school-based consultation in a theory-based approach, around cases where school staff are seeking specialist knowledge around mental health and wellbeing.
- Deliver training to professionals around emotional health and wellbeing issues and undertake any relevant training which is required to deliver relevant evidence-based training programmes.
- Deliver learning to learners in both Primary and High Schools around emotional health and wellbeing.
- Deliver, where appropriate evidence-based therapeutic interventions.
- Work effectively with other members of the Powys CAMHS School In-Reach Team and CAMHS Services.
- Work with key stakeholders collaboratively to improve outcomes for children and young people.
- Support onwards referral processes through liaison with schools and other services.
- Adhere to PTHB and professional body standards of record keeping and storage of records.
- Contribute to the collection of data.
- Support the Team Lead with delegated responsibilities.
- As this is a Pan-Powys post, there will be a requirement to travel. (Please refer further to the Job Description and Personal Specification).

Qualifications and/or Knowledge
Essential
- Registered Healthcare Professional such as: Registered Mental Health Nurse or Registered Nurse Learning Disabilities or Registered Practitioner Psychologist or Practitioner with appropriate counselling qualification to at least PG Dip level Additional training in one or more evidence based psychological therapy relevant to the school context or children's mental health Evidence of Continuous Professional Development Professional qualifications and skills must complement the multidisciplinary and skill mix of the Team Understanding of the legislation underpinning service delivery, e.g. Mental Health (Wales) Measure 2010 Knowledge of Safeguarding legislation and procedures for children, young people and vulnerable adults. Demonstrates a normative, contextual and developmental understanding of children and young people's presentations of mental ill health, emotional distress and behavioural issues Sound clinical knowledge of the current evidence base relevant to the area of practice Knowledge of direct and indirect psychological interventions Requirements for training needed for definition as Psychotherapist.
- Experience of assessing and delivering psychological interventions with children, young people and their families Experience of meeting agreed / specified service targets Experience of managing own caseload and time and of working independently Experience of working as part of a multi-disciplinary team Experience of leading change or new initiatives or other service development.
