The Newcastle upon Tyne NHS Foundation Trust is looking to employ a Specialist Engineering Supervisor (Decontamination). This role requires in-depth expertise and hands-on experience in maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting of healthcare Reverse Osmosis Plants. Additionally, the ideal candidate will be proficient in creating and delivering training materials, as well as developing and implementing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). This position is crucial for ensuring the effective and safe operation of decontamination processes within the healthcare setting.

Main duties of the job
- Responsible for the planned preventative maintenance (PPM) of Reverse Osmosis (RO) Plants at the Royal Victoria Infirmary and Freeman Hospital sites.
- Responsible for the repair of RO plants in line with Trust agreed Service Level Agreement (SLA).
- Responsible for the development of standard operating procedures (SOP's) for the maintenance, repair, fault finding and emergency response for Trust owned RO plants.
- Responsible for the development and delivery of bespoke training packages to Estates Specialist Craftspersons to include maintenance, repair, fault finding and emergency response.
- Responsible for the management of training records.
- Responsible for the development and implementation of plant specific supply chains ensuring value for money and timely delivery of critical spares.
- Responsible for the development and implementation of additional Cost Improvement Programmes (CIP) within the Decontamination discipline, including, but not limited to:- Quarterly & Annual Validations of Washer Disinfectors- Quarterly & Annual Validations of Sterilisers/Autoclaves- Quarterly & Annual Validations of Automatic Endoscope Reprocessors (AER's)
- Responsible for the Management of specialist Decontamination contractors ensuring maintenance and repairs are conducted in line with Trust agreed service level agreements (SLA's).
- Responsible for the management of Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) for all Decontamination related contracts owned by NUTH Estates.

- Responsible for the direct technical supervision of specialist craftsperson in the planned maintenance of, and emergency response to, complex engineering infrastructure to ensure the effective performance of all building services, plant, equipment, structures and fabric to ensure the Trust Estate is maintained in a safe condition.
- Responsible for the management and technical supervision of Competent Persons in the completion of complex specialist tasks. Monitor the performance of the maintenance teams, identifying performance targets and providing regular reports on performance which identify areas for improvement. To manage minor works projects as directed.
- To provide Estates support to Capital Projects and other organisations when required.
- Day to day management of software used by the maintenance compliance function. Ensure that all risks and issues are identified, addressed and mitigated or notified appropriately. Identify and deliver cost opportunities and service efficiencies that may improve the organisations operations.

- Qualified to degree level or HNC/HND with equivalent knowledge gained through experience in a mechanical engineering discipline
- Post graduate qualification or significant relevant post qualification experience
