We are currently seeking a talented and experienced Paediatric Nurse to join our team as a Junior Sister/HDU Lead. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a dynamic team that includes nurses, clinical nurse specialists, hospital play therapists, educators, and allied health professionals, all committed to delivering gold-standard, family-centered care to our patients.

As a Level 1 HDU provider, we are dedicated to further developing our services to meet increasing demand and provide the best possible care for our community.

Main duties of the job

The role involves serving as the designated High Dependency Unit (HDU) lead within the paediatric acute inpatient unit. The individual must have substantial experience in delivering both general and specialised paediatric services. Collaborating with the HDU lead consultant and participating in the HDU working group, the post holder will be responsible for advancing the development and improvement of the HDU services within the unit.

Job responsibilities

Once your pre-employment checks have been completed you will be contacted by Recruitment to arrange your start date which will be in line with one of our Corporate Inductions.

Following your Corporate Induction you will be expected to attend the Trusts 2-week Induction Programme for RNs, NAs, RMs, ODPs and Paramedics. The programme is full-time (please emailmtw-tr.professionalstandards@nhs.netif this is problematic) and will involve travel to both Trust sites. The programme includes supernumerary shifts in the clinical area, classroom-based sessions and e-learning.

Please note that appointment to this post will be subject to a satisfactory Disclosure & Barring Service Check atEnhanced Level. (Enhanced level now includes regulated checks against vulnerable adults and children)

Qualifications

Essential

  • RSCN/RN Child
  • EPLS/APLS course
  • Mentor/assessor qualification
  • Obtained or working towards 1st level degree


Desirable

  • ACP
  • HDU post registrations course or equivalent experience
  • Simulation experience
  • EPLS instructor


Experience

Essential

  • Extensive experience within a PICU or HDU Level 2
  • Previous experience of working at Band 5 or equivalent

  • Experience of multi-disciplinary working
  • Evidence of supporting and implementing change
  • Management/leadership experience

  • Extensive knowledge of speciality
