This post is an exciting opportunity for a motivated, committed and experienced clinical practitioner to strengthen their safeguarding portfolio and to lead and drive safeguarding activity within the organisation. You will be a key leader in the safeguarding team which consists of Named Nurses (community, acute, adult and midwifery services), Specialist Nurses for Safeguarding, Looked After Children, Multi Agency Safeguarding and Complex Safeguarding Hub Specialist Nurses and Administration staff.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will need to be highly motivated to ensure safe and effective services for safeguarding vulnerable children and adults remains a priority for all staff working within the organisation across community and acute services.

You will need excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills and a flair for critically evaluating information and recording it in a concise and accurate manner. Comfortable working under pressure, adept at prioritising and working flexibly often to tight deadline you will possess professional curiosity and the ability to make professional challenge.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Children's Nurse / Community Public Health Practitioner
  • 1st Level Degree
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development and training undertaken in respect of safeguarding to minimum Level 3 (as per Intercollegiate Document)


Desirable

  • Masters degree or working towards
  • Recognised teaching/ mentoring qualification


Knowledge & Experience

Essential

  • Knowledge of national and local safeguarding policies, guidelines and recommendations.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation relating to safeguarding children.
  • Demonstrates knowledge relevant to patterns of abuse and neglect.
  • Experience of safeguarding supervision.
  • Experience of multi-agency child protection work.
  • Experience of delivering training.
  • Experience of policy development and implementation.
  • Awareness of issues affecting ethnic minority families and other socially excluded groups..
  • Working knowledge of children's health and development and the nature and impact of child maltreatment.
  • Experience of multi-agency child protection work.


Desirable

  • Qualification in safeguarding supervision.
  • Accredited training qualification.

  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
  • IT skills, including email, word and data collection.
  • Presentation skills.
  • Ability to analyse, critically evaluate information and record in a concise and accurate manner.

  • Completion of audits and reports within timescale.
