Main duties of the job
For more information on this role please see the attached support information. This will give you a better overview of the job role and requirements.
The role will involve carrying out an initial medical assessment, as part of the multidisciplinary assessment, contributing to the MDT care plan, and providing medical management / monitoring for patients treated by CEDS. It will also include providing guidance and support for the patient's own GP. There will be opportunities to be involved in research and clinical audit projects within the service.
The post holder will be part of the regular MDT meeting and will receive clinical supervision from a Consultant Psychiatrist specialising in eating disorders. Ideally, they will have some experience in working with people with an eating disorder but willingness to learn and enthusiasm for working with this patient group are key. They will receive training to develop their expertise. The main requirement for the post is enthusiasm for working with people with an eating disorder and joining an MDT that has pioneered evidence-based group treatments.
About us
The service is a multidisciplinary assessment and treatment service for adult outpatients with an eating disorder. The primary diagnoses of patients assessed and treated by the service are anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa and OSFED. We provide a group-based treatment programme for mild-moderate eating disorders and all staff are actively engaged in research and clinical audit.
We are a small, supportive team who are committed to staff training and supervision. The current team at CEDS consists of clinical psychologists and a GP who has pioneered this new role. The postholder will work alongside our GP, who is in post for 20 hours per week.
A new service for patients with severe eating disorders in Coventry will become operational soon and will work alongside CEDS. It will include psychiatrists, nurses, psychological therapists, a social worker, an occupational therapist, a dietitian, assistant psychologists and peer recovery workers.
