Band 5 Staff nurse - Renal, 37.5 Hrs (across both sites- plus occasional on-call for Sunday)
Applications from qualified nurses are invited to join our friendly team in the Haemodialysis Units in Cumbria.
This is an exciting opportunity to come and join our area and expand your skills. We are looking for a hard working nurse who is keen to pursue a career as a Haemodialysis nurse.
The main unit is located in the Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle (CIC)and we also have a satellite unit at West Cumberland Hospital (WCH), Whitehaven. The main Carlisle unit consists of 14 dialysis stations for patients of all complexities and the West Cumberland Hospital unit has 11 dialysis stations for patients also of all complexities plus caring for patients with the acute onset of renal failure.
Main duties of the job
Brief duties may include but are not limited to:
Act as named nurse for a selected group of haemodialysis patients under the supervision of a team leader.
Liaise with consultant nephrologists and other medical staff regarding patient care.
Undertake haemodialysis for chronic end-stage renal failure on the dialysis unit and in-patient areas.
Undertake acute haemodialysis on the main dialysis unit.
PARTICIPATE IN THE ON CALL ROTA WORKING UNDER THE SUPERVISION OF A BAND 6/7 HAEMODIALYSIS NURSE
The Trust will provide a twelve month preceptorship period for all newly registered healthcare professionals.
Healthcare Professionals returning to practice, moving into new roles or changing clinical environments, may access an agreed preceptorship period.
