To assist in the development and delivery of training, education, professional development across the Health Board. To support Nurses and other multi-disciplinary colleagues to meet the requirements under the Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards. The post holder will support the Head of Nursing PCTSG, the MCA and Dols Lead Nurse and support ongoing mandatory and statutory training and continuing professional development needs.
Main duties of the job
The post will support DoLS lead in the education and training of all staff working with service users who may be deemed to lack capacity
This post will sit within the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards team (DoLS) supporting the DoLS team lead to develop and implement system to support Health Board compliance with the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and the Mental Capacity (Amendment) Act 2019.
The post holder will support, develop, and deliver training to staff across all Health Board areas, to ensure staff feel confident and are competent to work within the required systems for MCA / DoLS.
The PDN will also when required undertake assessments and reviews relating to capacity and best interest decisions across primary and secondary care settings within set timescales and make recommendations to the Supervisory Body in relation to applications received regarding Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards using expert knowledge and skills.
The post holder will work in partnership with key stakeholders to develop strategies to ensure a highly motivated competent workforce by assessing training requirements and supporting and delivering the agreed training
The post holder will work autonomously and be responsible for the development of training, induction and practice assessor and practice supervisor programmes, taking into account legislation and policy development.
