Directorate Manager for the Directorate of Pharmacy

This exciting role will sit within the Division of Clinical Support and will offer the right individual an opportunity to influence at senior management level and lead recovery, service improvement and the development of future services.

The right candidate will have previous experience at senior management level and will have the skills to deliver high quality, efficient and effective services with leadership and compassion.

The successful candidate will work as part of the Senior Pharmacy Management Team, working closely with the Chief Pharmacists and Associate Chief Pharmacists into a larger Divisional Senior Leadership Team structure.

Although this role will be initially for the Directorate of Pharmacy, all Directorate Manager posts are filled to deliver for the Trust and you will be employed as a Directorate Manager who can work into any of the Directorates in the future.

The successful candidate will be educated to degree level or equivalent and is required to demonstrate experience of working at senior management level with a proven track record of achieving targets whilst managing large multi-professional teams.

It is essential that you evidence experience of HR management, budgetary management, performance and information management and of planning and developing strategy as well as possessing excellent communication and organisational skills.

Main duties of the job

As Directorate Manager for Pharmacy you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the operational area across all hospital sites and will possess a strong ability to build successful teams whilst influencing and motivating staff to deliver challenging targets through times of change. You will need to be business focused with an ability to analyse and present complex data whilst being sensitive to clinical and political demands both within and out-with the organisation.

Within the Directorate structure you will work closely with the Chief Pharmacist to develop and deliver the Directorates strategy in line with the Trust strategy, and you will need to be an innovator who can use both qualitative and quantitative information to drive improvements for patients and the organisation.

The provision of quality, safe and effective patient care is paramount and alongside the Chief Pharmacist, you will be expected to support clinicians to deliver improved outcomes for patients through robust performance management, effective risk management strategies within a strong clinical governance framework and the promotion of a positive, learning culture in which staff are empowered to share ideas and drive progress.

Person Specification

Experience

Essential

  • Significant operational experience at senior manager level
  • Experience of budgetary management/control
  • Experience of planning and developing strategy with a proven track record of pro-active performance management to achieve challenging targets
  • Experience of managing large multi-professional teams towards common objectives and targets
  • Experience of delivering complex programmes of change


Desirable

  • Experience in Health/Social Care Sector
