We provide a specialist Inpatient service for adults with mental health needs across 3 inpatient wards and 2 rehabilitation units. Our teams sit within the Adult Mental Health and Learning Disability Service Delivery Unit.

Due to promotion we are looking for a dynamic, motivated and passionate person to join us as a Staff Nurse on the Hadley Unit.

The Hadley Unit sits in our Inpatient pathway and is the Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) that covers the county of Worcestershire. It sits alongside the Assessment ward, the Treatment Ward, and two Rehabilitation units within the pathway.

Hadley Unit is a 9 bed mixed gender treatment ward that is situated in Worcester. The Hadley Unit is a referral-based service we can accept referrals from a number of sources including the community, acute wards and patients detained by the Ministry of Justice.

The Hadley Unit have recently opened the regions first state of the art Sensory Room within a PICU. Our vision is to be able to offer alternative treatment methods and coping strategies that empower patients throughout their on-going recovery.

Main duties of the job

As one of the Staff Nurses you will work closely with the management and medical team, alongside the Complex Discharge facilitator, Home Treatment Teams and the Crisis Resolution Team.

Part of your role is to ensure patient care is of the highest standards, you act as a role model at all times and use your initiative to maintain quality and safety. Alongside an already established management team you will assist in supporting and educating junior staff.

Skills & Abilities

Essential

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English in both verbal and written formats
  • Sound clinical skills
  • Able to assess, plan, implement and evaluate programmes of care


Knowledge

Essential

  • NMC Code of Conduct
  • Knowledge of person centred care
  • Knowledge of the ageing
  • process and related mental and physical health problems
  • Knowledge of Clinical Governance and a commitment to clinical supervision
  • Knowledge of the individuals responsibility towards health and safety


Qualifications

Essential

  • RN Mental Health, RN (Adult) or RNLD
  • Registered on the NMC register
  • Evidence of continuing professional development


Desirable

  • Attended control and restraint course within the last 12 months
  • CPR course
  • Teaching and assessing qualification


Experience

Essential

  • Where the post holder is on or above the 2nd KSF gateway they will support the Clinical Coordinator role, as described as exceptional circumstances in the job description
