The senior clinical role is to support the development and implementation of a range of interventions within the Thrive Model as indicated by SET CAMHS and NICE guidance.

The post holder will work alongside the Clinical Lead and Team Manager to help support the delivery of psychological support across the service. They will be responsible for assessment, treatment and outcome measurement and provide clinical supervision to staff as well as development.

This post would suit clinicians with an extensive experience in working with young people who present with complexity and significant levels of distress, working with the wider systems including education, social care and family/carers.

As a senior clinician within the service, you will bring highly developed knowledge of specialist therapeutic assessment, formulation and intervention skills and specific knowledge and expertise in psychological interventions.

Main duties of the job

The SET MID CAMHS team covers the Mid area of Essex the administrative base is in Chelmsford in a modern building with free car parking.

You would ideally have experience of supervising and managing others, although support and training can be given for this to the right candidate. You would also have a keen interest in developing innovative strategies to support young people and their families including young people with neurodevelopment diagnosis and co-morbidity.

Children and young people who are referred to CAMHS have a range of presentations which would include: early presentation of psychosis, self-harm and suicidal ideation, other trauma related emotional difficulties, low mood, anxiety, obsessional compulsive disorders and other mild to moderate mental health difficulties. We are seeking an experienced clinician who can lead on complex assessments and formulations leading to evidence based and specialist treatment.

This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).

Starting with NELFT

NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focussing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

Qualifications

Essential

  • oSuccessful completion of a post-graduate training in psychological practice (e.g. psychologist, or family therapist)
  • oTo be eligible for registration as a full member of the appropriate professional body (e.g. HCPC, ACP, AFT, NMC)


Experience

Essential

  • oExtensive experience of working with complex mental health presentations in children/young people requiring skilled and complex interventions
  • oExtensive experience of working therapeutically with parents/carers/families of children and young people in crisis with complex mental health problems


Knowledge

Essential

  • High levels of knowledge in theory & practice of short and long terms interventions in CAMHS
  • Extensive knowledge of risk management for complex and unusual or unexpected presentations
