We are looking for motivated, forward thinking midwives to join our progressive team at Queen Mary Maternity Unit, West Middlesex University Hospital. We have full time and part time positions available.
We have opportunities for full-time/part-time - Community and Antenatal Clinic Midwives, school hours will be considered. We will also consider duel role community/ANC/hospital based (2 days per week community/ANC + 2 days/nights labour ward or maternity inpatients)
We are at the forefront of bringing continuity of care and carer to all women who access our service. We have been working with our sector lead in the Better Birth project from the outset.
Rated OUTSTANDING at our last CQC inspection we pride ourselves on giving excellent care to families who access our services.
As a Community Midwife you will be bringing continuity of care and carer to our local families. Working independently and within a team of community midwives with a geographical area, supporting home birth and community you will have the most rewarding work experiences.
Main duties of the job
Working within an established team of midwives to provide a high quality, effective midwifery services, providing expert clinical midwifery advice to women in your care.
Giving high quality continuity of care for low risk, uncomplicated pregnancies, in partnership with women, plan and implement individualised midwifery led care packages.

Job description
Job responsibilities
- Be an autonomous practitioner providing clinical leadership and expertise in all aspects of midwifery practice, which includes providing direct care to all women and families.
- Facilitate the development of all staff including junior medical staff, students and support workers through teaching and empowerment.
- Assess, develop, implement and evaluate the highest standards of care based on evidence based practice.
- Promote the physiological labour and birth process supporting both women and staff to achieve this.
- Ensure good communications between staff, women and their families, providing an immediate and effective response in dealing with issues such as bereavement support, anxiety or complaints.
- Liaise effectively with other department and other agencies as required ensuring efficient services for women.
