With our expanding services an exciting career opportunity has arisen for a Full Time registered nurse to join our team on the Endoscopy Unit.

The Endoscopy Units' within the Trust perform a variety of standard and advanced Endoscopic procedures for both out-patients and in-patients including gastroscopy, sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy, bronchoscopy, percutaneous endoscopic gastroscopy (PEG) insertion, oesophageal stenting and ERCP (endoscopic retrograde cholangio-pancreatography).

Main duties of the job

The Endoscopy unit is presently open between 08:00hrs to 19:00hrs 7 days a week. We have a Nurse 'On Call' Emergency Upper GI rota, which covers Out of Hours which you will be expected to be included in. We aim to provide the very highest standards of care to patients and relatives alike ensuring privacy and dignity is maintained at all times.

Reporting to the Endoscopy Sister the successful candidate will be responsible for the Clinical Education of the staff in all areas of Endoscopy, Trust Core Learning, the development of student nurses whilst on placement in this area, and deputise in the absence of Sister. The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate good leadership skills, be adaptable to a changing environment and possess good written and verbal communication skills. A commitment to personal/professional development is required and a teaching/mentorship certificate is essential.

Person Specification

Qualifications (Academic, Professional & Vocational)

Essential

  • 1st Level Nurse with NMC Registration
  • Evidence of further professional development
  • Evidence of further Teaching & Assessing Qualification (Clinical Mentorship/fLIPS ENB 998 or equivalent)


Desirable

  • Degree or equivalent
  • Clinical qualification(s) post registration.


Previous Experience (Nature & Level)

Essential

  • Minimum of 2 years recent experience in nursing patients within the speciality
  • Senior Nurse experience/experience taking charge/coordinating a clinical area
  • To have a range of experiences in nursing acute patients
  • Demonstrate an ability to assess and introduce change consistent with research evidence.


Desirable

  • Experience with JET's Workforce
  • Knowledge of responsibilities regarding Health and Safety


Evidence of Particular: - Knowledge - Skills - Aptitudes

Essential

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with all members of staff
  • Expanded competencies.
  • Evidence of assessing and supervising junior colleagues

  • Knowledge of current developments in Endoscopy
  • Knowledge of decontamination controls and standards
