This role is an exciting opportunity to specialise in nutrition support within the community, in areas such as oncology and home enteral feeding.
The role has the flexibility to be either based at Bedford Hospital, remote working or a combination of both. The community team have full access to remote working, with all patient notes on SystmOne. You will receive a laptop and mobile phone to support remote working.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide specialist dietetic input for patients within North and Mid Bedfordshire and will cover home visits, care homes, community clinics as well as supporting the Food First Prescribing project. The post holder will also provide support for less experienced Dietitians and non-qualified staff, within the community team. This is a specialist role and requires excellent time management skills.

1. To manage a complex caseload of community patients. This service provides input to patients in an outpatient clinic setting, domiciliary visits, care homes, home enteral feeding and oncology.
2. To improve the awareness of malnutrition, by advising and providing training on a food first approach and local pathway to reduce malnutrition in the community including training for GPs.
3. To review patients identified in GP practice audits who are being prescribed oral nutritional supplements. This is part of the successful Food First project which has been funded with clear targets to reduce the spend across North Bedfordshire, while improving nutrition.

- Degree in Nutrition & Dietetics
- Current registration with HCPC as a registered Dietitian
Experience
Essential
- Experience in enteral feeding
- Experience in nutrition support
- Evidence of general dietetic experience in range of areas
Desirable
- NHS experience
Knowledge
Essential
- Sound knowledge of current issues relating to a wide and diverse range of general dietetics
- Sound knowledge of current issues in nutrition support and enteral feeding
- Familiarity with a range of oral nutritional supplements, tube feeds, tube feeding equipment and home delivery companies
- Ability to prioritise and manage time effectively and efficiently, and to work under own initiative
