Blundell Ward is a 24 bedded Head and Neck/ENT ward comprising of bays and side rooms. Blundell Ward is an excellent place to develop your Surgical oncology Head and Neck and ENT skills as well as specialist skills such as altered airway management and drain monitoring. We also admit patients looked after the medical oncology pathway within head and neck.
Please note: We do not currently deliver chemotherapy on Blundell Ward and therefore this is not a learning opportunity we can offer. We do however support patients through their treatment and associated side effects.

Main duties of the job
We are seeking experienced and motivated nurses to join our team on Blundell Ward. We are seeking nurses that are eager to develop their clinical skills and competence and want to be future leaders within surgical oncology nursing in an inpatient setting.
You will have the opportunity to further develop and enhance your skills related to complex head and neck/ENT surgical skills such as altered airway management, drain monitoring, complex dressing completion and support with the enhanced recovery program.
We are seeking candidates with a strong desire to deliver the best individualized care to patients living with cancer and undergoing life changing surgical interventions.
The successful candidate will need to have at least 1 year experience in acute inpatient setting and will be committed to developing their clinical skills but also their leadership skills. They will have clinical competence relevant to the area and be willing to continue this development.
Altered airway management competency is preferred but not necessary.
Informal visits/phone calls are strongly recommended.
