An exciting innovative role has been designed with York University (fixed term - 24 months) and TEWV. This role involves supporting the learning and development of students on the University of York nursing programmes across academic and clinical environments.Strengthening the partnership between the Trust and University of York.Ensuring an exceptional student experience, and positively contributing to the future healthcare professional workforce.

Main duties of the job

To contribute to the learning, support and assessment of students in practice and academic environments, including those related to the development of clinical skills and competencies through simulated practice.

Provide clinical and educational support within the relevant locality. Act as an expert resource in nursing undergraduate education and its delivery. Provide highly specialist advice, interventions and teaching as appropriate.

Required to provide general non-clinical advice, information or guidance directly to patients, clients, relatives or carers, whilst working closely with students in a clinical setting.

Work in clinical practice to maintain skills as a Healthcare Professional.

Teach and facilitate the development and acquisition of clinical skills in nursing students within a supportive learning environment.

Responsible for recognising the signs of patient harm, abuse, or neglect including poor clinical practice, identifying issues regarding the safeguarding of adults and children who may be at risk and reporting all such concerns in accordance with Trust safeguarding procedures, when working in clinical areas.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential
  • Registered Nurse with NMC
  • Degree in Nursing or related Healthcare
  • Recognised Teaching Certificate
  • Significant Post Registration Experience in Clinical Setting
Desirable
  • Working towards a Masters level qualification in nursing or relevant professional subject or PhD in relevant subject area or equivalent professional experience
  • Previous experience of working as a Practice Education / Learning Facilitator
  • Proven skills in delivery, facilitation and development of education programmes
Skills Essential
  • Able to demonstrate collaborative working with MDT colleagues in a variety of clinical and academic settings
  • Ability to communicate effectively with multi-professional colleagues in the learning environment
  • Ability to assess and support students, mentors, and educators in complex decisions relating to student placements, competence and fitness to practice
Knowledge Essential
  • Knowledge of NMC standards for student supervision and assessment, and delivery of safe and effective learning experiences for nursing students in practice
  • Able to demonstrate knowledge of clinical skills and interventions across a range of environments and settings
