North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust was formed in April 2017. We run three acute sites Peterborough City, Hinchingbrooke and Stamford and Rutland Hospitals. In addition, we deliver outpatient and radiology services at Doddington Hospital, the Princess of Wales Hospital, Ely, and North Cambridgeshire Hospital, Wisbech. We deliver acute care services to a growing catchment of approximately 900,000 residents living in Cambridgeshire, Lincolnshire and the neighbouring counties of Norfolk and Bedfordshire. Team North West Anglia is made up of approximately 7,500 members of staff and is supported by an army of 400 volunteers who dedicate some of their free time to support hospital services mainly in patient-facing roles.

This is a really exciting time for patients and staff as we work with our local health system partners across Cambridgeshire, Peterborough, and South Lincolnshire to deliver some key development projects that will shape the care we provide for future generations. As well as building a new hospital at Hinchingbrooke and redeveloping our sites at Peterborough and Stamford to better meet the needs of patients, we are investing in a Trust-wide electronic patient record system and harnessing digital technology within our diagnostic services to enhance the quality and speed of diagnosis and treatment.

Main duties of the job

The Director of Corporate Affairs, Risk and Governance is a key role on the Board of Directors, which has been created as part of our ongoing drive to create significant strategic, cultural, and operational change at NWAFT. This is a new position responsible for all matters of governance, legal, regulatory, communications, complaints, and risk. We are very proud of our Foundation Trust status and the freedom it provides us to operate in an agile manner for the benefit of the people we serve. However, we are acutely aware of the conditions we must meet to maintain this privileged status and this new role will be significant in maintaining our license to operate as a Foundation Trust.

Working towards our strategic, operational, and cultural objectives, we strive to achieve connection, coherence, creativity and credibility with our patients, our staff, our stakeholders, and partners, internally & externally. This needs to be led and role modelled consistently from the very top of the organisation and as our future Director of Corporate Affairs, Risk, & Governance, you will be a senior leader, key to making that happen. Responsible for the CQC Well Led mandate, you will work with your fellow board members to deliver successfully on these key lines of enquiry.

If you are someone who has the experience, appetite, skill set and drive to be an innovative Executive Director of Corporate Affairs, Risk and Governance and a highly effective member of our Unitary board , please apply.
