Hampshire CAMHS Intensive Work Team are offering an exciting opportunity for a Band 6, Intensive CAMHS Specialist to be co-located within Hampshire Children's Services Department to provide a specialist multi disciplinary approach to priority groups including children and young people that may be at risk or becoming a Child in Care, those transitioning to a new setting, and with parents of those where the plan is reunification or those who have had previous children removed.

The post holder will be expected to provide advice, clinical consultancy and training in relation to the mental health needs of children and young people, crisis intervention and home treatment for referred children, young people, and their families as part of a multi-agency approach to meeting the health and social care needs of those who are open to CAMHS and Children's Services.

Main duties of the job

To be responsible for child and adolescent mental health assessments and resulting packages of evidenced based intervention, including group work in collaboration with Children's Services.

To be responsible for ensuring professional consultation and signposting.

To organise and participate in training and learning sessions to all colleagues within the Children's Service to maintain high standards of clinical practice.

To participate in the development of a high quality, responsive, and accessible service for children, young people, families, and carers.

To provide clinical consultancy, support, and learning opportunities to staff caring for children and adolescents who are seen to be at risk to themselves and/or others.

To have excellent communication skills including tact and persuasiveness skills.

To be able to give, receive and record succinctly highly sensitive and complex information regarding children and young people's life experience or staff welfare issues.

To be highly skilled in overcoming barriers to communication that can arise when addressing contentious issues such as communicating with parents about the impact of maltreatment on young children's social and emotional development.

To have knowledge of the impact complex and developmental trauma on child development and mental health and the maltreatment in early infancy on attachment patterns and subsequent social, emotional, and cognitive development.

Qualifications

Essential

  • *Professional qualification, with evidence of continuing professional development, in a field relevant to child and adolescent mental health.
  • *Registered Professional Qualification
  • *Training in the use of standardised assessment tools


Experience

Essential

  • *Experience of working with clients with a range of mental health problems.
  • *Experience of both group and individual work.
  • *Experience of multidisciplinary working.
  • *Experience as a Care Coordinator
  • *Experience with Looked after/Adopted children.

  • *Able to communicate complex information to service users, carers, and colleagues.
