We are recruiting for a Clinical Specialist/Team Lead Occupational Therapist to join our team on the Isle of Wight.

This post requires a Clinical Team Lead and Specialist in the field to lead and develop OTs across the service in Community Rehabilitation in order to deliver the Islands rehabilitation strategy. This will also require liaison with Social Services, Health and Third Sector Partners on a strategic level in order to be proactive in joint working. The post holder will have a designated caseload as specialist clinician. This allows a more clinical focus at senior level on rehabilitation across the whole Integrated Locality Therapy service.

Main duties of the job

To manage a caseload of patients with complex needs, using evidence based/person centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions.

To provide and develop an Occupational Therapy service to a specific area and contribute to related policies

To act as a Highly Specialist Occupational Therapist and Team Lead within this area and the Community Rehab Occupational Therapy Service

To provide leadership for junior staff, through supervision and appraisal within a designated area/team

To lead clinical audits and undertake research

A background of being self-motivated and able to work in a team environment

Qualifications

Essential

  • Occupational Therapy Degree/Diploma.
  • HCPC Registration.


Desirable

  • Refer to attached JD


Experience

Essential

  • Evidence of CPD including postgraduate rehabilitation focus and neurological courses, reflective practice, IST and experiential learning.
  • Experience of working as part of an OT team/multidisciplinary team. Team management experience,
  • Extensive postgraduate general rehabilitation and neurological knowledge and experience e.g., normal movement courses.
  • Experience of working as a clinical lead.
  • Experience of student and staff clinical education.
  • Evidence of implementation of service developments.
  • Understanding of legal responsibilities of the profession, able to lead a team professionally and clinically.
  • NHS or equivalent clinical experience

Additional Criteria

Essential

  • Current Driving licence.
  • To be able to demonstrate the physical ability for assessment and treatment of patients within this speciality client group with multiple and varied disabilities and illnesses including working with multiple adaptive moving and handling devices.
  • To be able to demonstrate a variety of highly developed advanced Occupational Therapy techniques and therapeutic handling and observational skills.
  • Be physically fit and able to comply with Trust Manual Handling Guidelines.
