We're seeking dedicated Staying Well Practitioners to join our innovative team in Hastings. This role is co-produced with Southdown, a key VCSE partner in Sussex.

We welcome experienced and registered mental health professionals from various disciplines, including Social Workers, Mental Health Nurses, and Occupational Therapists. Essential qualifications include registration with NMC, HCPC, or Social Work England, alongside experience in crisis assessment and safety care planning.

Shift Details:
  • Monday to Friday: 4pm - 11pm
  • Weekends: 2pm - 11pm
  • Generous enhancements for evening and weekend shifts.

Incentives:
  • �4,000 incentive for Band 5-7 Nurses & Practitioners.
  • Relocation package up to �8,000 (terms and conditions apply).


Main duties of the job

Our service, based on a 'crisis caf' model, offers a supportive and therapeutic environment for individuals over 18 experiencing a mental health crisis. This alternative to A& E provides a welcoming space with a responsive team of mental health workers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support Recovery Workers in delivering person-centered care.
  • Promote a safe, supportive, and therapeutic environment to reduce emotional and psychological distress.
  • Assist in fostering independence and recovery for community mental health service users.
  • Act as Trusted Assessors, ensuring smooth transitions into crisis services without the need for additional assessments, thus avoiding unnecessary A& E referrals.

Skills Required:
  • Experience in mental health services.
  • Knowledge of psycho-social factors precipitating crises and impacting service user safety and wellbeing.
  • Ability to offer psycho-social interventions to individuals with mental health difficulties.
  • Understanding of safety factors for staff delivering person-centered care in crisis settings.
  • Experience in crisis assessment and safety care planning.

Working in Staying Well Services: Our Staying Well service empowers individuals to identify their own needs, manage crises, and make informed choices. We support individuals in drawing on their strengths, developing coping strategies, and building resilience through wellness and recovery plans. Our approach includes 'Upstream and Downstream' principles, offering both preventative and responsive interventions.

Team Dynamics: Our team is small, cohesive, and supportive, fostering a culture of openness and inclusivity. All members, including peer volunteers, support workers, and clinicians, are equally valued and encouraged to contribute. The MIND Mental Health Workers bring a psychotherapeutic background, enriching the service with diverse perspectives.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Registered Nurse, Social Work England or HCPC registered professional with current registration appropriate to the job role.
  • Degree/diploma level supplemented by specialist qualification, training, experience, courses to masters level equivalent relevant to the care group
  • Evidence of post registration training in relevant service area
  • Extensive post qualifying experience in relevant service area
  • Experience of supervising staff and students
  • Comprehensive knowledge of interventions specific to service area
  • Awareness of Trust policies and service specification
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills with staff, patients, families, carers and professionals
  • Able to establish links with other services and professionals
  • Able to effectively manage risk
  • Participate in service development
  • Able to lead clinical discussions in team
  • Able to use Trust IT systems to enter patient information, case notes, risk, Care Notes


Desirable

  • Lived experience of mental illness
