Willow Team is part of the City and North East Oxon adult mental health team and we cover the central part of Oxford City, including two university populations. We work with a large multicultural patient group with severe and enduring mental illnesses; in collaboration with partnership agencies such as Mind, Restore, Elmore and Response.

We use the principles of a flexible assertive community treatment (FACT) model of healthcare. We have incorporated FACT into the daily functioning of the team; which enables us to be focused on the recovery of the patient through a multidisciplinary (MDT) approach; with expertise from doctors, social workers, nurses, occupational therapists, support workers and psychological therapies staff . We also have twice weekly MDT meetings, where we discuss clinical matters within our supportive team. We strive to provide person centered evidence based care to patients, where possible working collaboratively with their families and carers.

This role is open to qualified mental health nurses who have experience of working in mental health services. You will be confident in delivering and maintaining high quality and meaningful care for our patients, be a highly motivated autonomous practitioner and can demonstrate the ability to manage your workload effectively. You will need to confidently conduct initial mental health assessments for patients referred into our service in a timely manner; who can display complex and difficult behaviors. You will professionally engage in a therapeutic approach, identify any ongoing care needs, and assess and manage risk. This includes the identification and use of safeguarding processes when needed. We are a friendly, supportive and dynamic team committed to delivering high quality patient care. In addition we have embedded peer support workers within the team to promote the power of lived experience, and ensure that the gap between patient and clinician is bridged.

You will be supported by an experienced leadership team from across the professions, who facilitate forums for nurses and occupational therapists. Regular supervision will be provided and support to undertake any training relevant to your profession and professional development. All new members of staff are also placed on a six-month probationary period where increased levels of support will be offered.

We also offer excellent staff benefits including a 24/7 employee assistance programme, cycle to work scheme and annual award ceremony to celebrate successes. Oxford Health have their own staff bank available, should you choose to work extra shifts and additional hours.

The assessment team is based at our site at Warneford Hospital, Oxford, but you may occasionally be required to visit a patient in their home environment. The core working hours are Monday to Friday 09:00 - 17:00; however compressed hours of working are available and can be discussed at interview. We would encourage you to give us a call to discuss the role and we welcome informal visits from interested applicants.
