We have an exciting 12 month secondment opportunity within the Enfield Mental Health division for Older People's (MHSOP) Inpatient Therapies Team. We are looking to recruit an experienced Occupational Therapist, Band 7, full time, to lead our Inpatient Therapies Team. We have established a mix of therapies to support our provision of care to the older people on our three inpatient wards. These consist of an Acute Assessment, Treatment ward and a specialist Dementia Assessment ward with patients from all 3 boroughs. . Main duties of the job

You will be responsible for managing our therapy staff which includes OT's, Music Therapists, Art Therapist and Technical Instructors (TI's). The service seeks to provide tailored therapeutic input and groups/1:1's for our inpatient population as well as a robust OT service that supports patient's safe and appropriate discharge back into the community. You will be based on The Oaks ward at Chase Farm Hospital

Person Specification EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS Essential
  • Professional Therapy qualification at degree level or above
  • HCPC Registration
  • Evidence of CPD/Reflective practice in application to clinical setting
EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE Essential
  • Minimum 5 years relevant clinical postgraduate experience in professional field, including experience of working with older people with mental health and physical health problems
  • Experience of planning and running a range of therapeutic groups
  • Experience of carrying out functional assessments
  • Experience of supervising staff and/or students
  • Up to date knowledge of developments in older adult mental health, to inform clinical decisions, and best practice for self and supervisees
SKILLS AND ABILITIES Essential
  • Effective written communication skills to include assessment and treatment documentation and formal clinical reports for MD team and outside agencies
  • Effective caseload and time management skills, including the ability to prioritise and problem solve
  • Ability to carry out detailed functional assessments
  • Able to use a range of treatment skills and to apply these to either group or individual work.
  • Ability to provide clear clinical reasoning for interventions
