If so, we are seeking a Cancer MDT Manager to join the Cancer Service Team for NWAFT on a permanent basis and this could be your next career move! This is a rare but exiting opportunity for an experienced and enthusiastic manager to join a dynamic and progressive team that strives for excellence in cancer care.
This post will play a pivotal role in ensuring leadership and performance of the cancer services team across the Trust as we seek to move forward with enthusiasm and ambition to support sustained recovery in cancer performance. Our patients are and will be at the heart of our work, ensuring continuing high-quality and equitable patient-informed care along the end-to-end cancer pathways.
As the NWAFT Cancer MDT Manager you will work across the organisation to inspire high quality MDT delivery across Cancer Services, ensuring collaborative, seamless working and the support development of innovations and improvements in pathway design, performance and equitable patient experience across the Trust. You will be a highly visible leader, building and maintaining professional relationships, championing best practice patient care, delivering improvement and innovation using national and regional benchmarking, ensuring that all staff understand and work towards the performance standards and identified improvements for cancer.
Main duties of the job
Main Duties
Line management the cancer services team ensuring appraisals and regular 1:1s are performed identifying any training needs or areas of development
Working closely with the team identifying any delays in the cancer pathways and escalate to the Cancer Performance Manager
To attend MDTs quarterly (minimum) to ensure they run effectively and efficiently
Train new staff in the use of any virtual telecommunication equipment as well as ensure all meetings programmed are updated to ensure they run smoothly
Attend and participate in the annual operational meetings for each MDT
To work closely with the Cancer Performance Manager and Cancer Operations Manager in the delivery of all key cancer targets and the identification of any ongoing internal process changes required to achieve and sustain this
To support the cancer data team by ensuring complete, accurate and consistent recording of information by MDT outcomes and patient tracking, populated onto the Somerset Cancer Register for internal and external reporting
Take responsibility for the even distribution of workload within the team and initiating amendments or improvements where necessary
To be at all times courteous, attentive and project a professional image in accordance with the Trust Values
Deputise for the Cancer Performance Manager as appropriate
