An exciting opportunity has arisen in the role of Accident and Emergency matron at Bolton NHS Foundation Trust. We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, dynamic and well organised individual to work within an extremely fast paced moving environment.
Main duties of the job
Working alongside our current ED matron you will drive and sustained high standards of care within our Accident and Emergency department. Working under the direct line management of the Head of Nursing, you will provide visible nurse leadership in order to deliver quality patient care and outcomes.

Job responsibilities
The Matron should be highly visible and accessible within the department. He/she should be an exemplary role model for nurses, leading by example, empowering staff to deliver improved patient safety and enhance the patient experience. He/she will adhere to professional standards of care and promote a professional image of nursing/ midwifery that inspires confidence in service users, family members and carers and the healthcare community as a whole.
The Matron will foster a culture of patient centeredness, equity, dignity and timeliness of healthcare provision for all patients and champion a 6C culture of Care, Compassion, Competence, Communication, Courage and Commitment.
The Matron will be responsible for focusing on quality, innovation, productivity and prevention and work closely with the Assistant Divisional Nurse Directors (ADND) and Operational Business Manager to maintain efforts to continuously improve safety, clinical quality, effectiveness and efficiency. The role will provide strong managerial and professional support to both the Divisional management and corporate nursing team.
The Matron will support the implementation of the Trust Quality and Safety strategy and contribute to the developments in line with safety, quality and improvement in relation to NHS Safety Thermometer, Harm Free Care, Patient Experience and Open and Honest Care (Transparency) for his/her designated areas.

- RGN on relevant part of NMC Register
- First Degree in nursing or an equivalent portfolio of evidence
- Post registration plus experience within specialty at a senior level
- Appropriate mentorship/assessment qualification e.g. mentorship module, ENB 998, D32/33
- Evidence of professional/clinical knowledge in area supplemented by specialist clinical, managerial training and CPD

- Leadership development course
- Post basic qualification in specialty and/or teaching

- Evidence of experience of ward management
