The Imaging Directorate is excited to offer Apprentice Radiographer posts starting January 2025.

The post holder will work at the University Hospital of North Midlands NHS Trust as an apprentice radiographer within the Imaging Directorate working as part of the Plain Film X-ray team workforce and undertaking clinical shifts as part of the Team. The post holder will work alongside a multidisciplinary team whilst they train to be a Radiographer. The post holder will be required to work between the Royal Stoke University Hospital sites including County Hospital and the peripheral sites in all modalities.

The apprenticeship will run in conjunction with the Keele University and will require the post holder to study alongside working clinically in the department. As part of the role there will be an expectation to work alongside qualified Radiographers supporting flow of patient pathways, liaising with the wider MDT and supporting Imaging Department Assistants.

The successful applicant must undertake any formal or informal study and training required to fulfil the needs of the post.

Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship the post holder will gain a BSc (Hons) in Diagnostic Radiography and Imaging and will be eligible to apply for registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Diagnostic Radiographer.

Main duties of the job

You will gain extensive workplace learning and practice in Imaging, supported by academic learning within the chosen university. Programme fees will be supported by the trust. You can view information about the programme at Keele University on the university website

This is a 3 year fixed term apprenticeship training post. On completion the post holder will gain a BSc (Hons) in Diagnostic Radiography and Imaging and will be eligible to apply for registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Diagnostic Radiographer. Completion of the apprenticeship will give the post holder the skills required to embark on a career as a Diagnostic Radiographer. You will gain the skills and knowledge to continually learn, develop and use the evidence base to improve your professional practice.

As part of the Keele University application process, applicants will need to prepare a current CV and a personal statement explaining why they would be suitable for this apprentice opportunity. This will be required following successful appointment at interview. Please note successful appointment at interview isconditional and is dependent upon acceptance to the Keele University course as per the entry requirements.

Qualifications

Essential

  • G.C.S.E Grade C or 4 or equivalent Maths and English
  • A-Level or BTEC or Equivalent qualifications


Clinical Experience

Essential

  • Clinical experience in Imaging department or other healthcare environment
  • Public facing role


Desirable

  • Experience of working within UHNM


Adaptability/Flexible working practice

Essential

  • Ability to work as part of the 7 day service at Royal Stoke, County Hospital and peripheral sites.


Desirable

  • Current and valid UK driving licence.


Personality and Character

Essential

  • Experience of working in a busy environment and under pressure.
  • Good organisational skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Reliable, able to cope with demanding and difficult situations


Acquired Skills and Knowledge

Essential

  • Evidence of personal/professional responsibility, personal development and reflection
  • Excellent IT skills, ability to use basic IT programmes.
  • Knowledge of Trust protocols.


Desirable

  • Knowledge of IR(ME)R 2017 and IRR
  • Knowledge of/Interest in anatomy and pathology.
  • Knowledge or experience of Radiology Information Systems (CRIS)
