We have an exciting opportunity for a Patient safety Improvement Matron based at HMP Berwyn in North wales.

This is a new post within the health and wellbeing team and is an excellent opportunity for the post holder who will act as the professional nurse lead providing clinical advice, leadership development, monitoring and management of all nursing resources across the health teams ensuring the delivery of a high quality, patient centred service.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

This is a challenging but rewarding role for an individual who is an excellent communicator, confident and able to exercise strong leadership and management skills. As part of the Healthcare Team you will be instrumental in developing and implementing the Clinical Governance and Patient Safety frameworks and in giving professional advice in relation to the development of improvement in patient safety, within HMP Berwyn. You will be responsible for the planning of improvement coordination within the health service and fostering effective working relationships with HMPPS, prison colleagues and other stakeholders.

Essential

  • Registered nurse
  • Masters Degree or equivalent experience in Nursing or health related subject or working towards with completion in three years
  • Significant relevant experience in a managerial post

  • Post-graduate management qualification

  • Experience of managing and leading a broad range of staff
