Royal Papworth Hospital invites you to join our team, providing high quality pharmaceutical care to patients in our specialist cardio-respiratory centre. The pharmacy department sits at the heart of our state-of-the-art, digitally enabled hospital.

In this new role, you will lead on the management of stock control, including temperature monitoring. As the deputy to the lead pharmacy technician for dispensary and distribution, you will be working flexibly within these areas to manage the teams successfully. The successful candidate will have previous experience working within pharmacy.

Main duties of the job

In this role you will:

-Be responsible for management of all stock in the pharmacy department

-Work closely with the lead pharmacy technician for Dispensary and Distribution on a daily basis, effectively managing teams of pharmacy assistants

-Provide training and mentorship for new starters in the dispensary and in stores

-Assist in procurement for the pharmacy department

As part of this role, you will be the line manager for a small number of pharmacy assistants. We are dedicated to the development of line managers, providing access to leadership development programmes to enhance management and leadership skills.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical technical procedures acquired through diploma level qualification or equivalent training and experience.
  • GPhC accredited qualification in pharmacy.


Experience

Essential

  • Experience in hospital pharmacy including working within a pharmacy dispensary.
  • Experience in managing a service and/or leading a team.
  • Experience in managing projects or change management.
  • Knowledge of legislation and standards relevant to the dispensing of prescriptions and management of a hospital pharmacy dispensary.
  • Logical and lateral thinking skills
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, leadership, and organisational skills
  • Ability to manage priorities, work efficiently under pressure, and deal calmly with unpredictable workflow and regular interruptions.
  • Highly proficient in the use of pharmacy management systems and proficient in the use of a range of IT applications.
