We have an exciting opportunity for anexperienced NURSE, or PARAMEDIC to join the Research and Development Team at Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust as a Senior Research Nurse/Senior Research Paramedic.

Berkshire Healthcare is one of the most research active Mental Health and Community Trusts in the country. We are currently welcoming a newSenior Research Nurse/Research Paramedic to our friendly team. Applicants will be accepted from experienced Registered Nurses (NMC) or Paramedics (HCPC).

This is an excellent opportunity for a reliable, motivated individual withprevious experience of working in healthcare. This is an opportunity to join our busy Research and Development delivery team working on research studies from a range of specialties including Mental Health and Community Health Services.

This post is based out of the University of Reading and provides support across the entire Trust. As such you will be required to travel as needed by the role and therefore a time efficient mode of transportation is essential. Currently the Trust is supporting hybrid working (working from home and Trust sites) where appropriate.

Work Pattern : Usually Mon-Fri 9-5 but some flexibility may be required.

Main duties of the job

  • You will be trained to support a variety of research studies and working in conjunction with the research and development team, will co-ordinate, facilitate and manage day to day activities for concurrent research studies across a diverse range of specialties.
  • Main duties include managing the implementation of research protocols, identification, recruitment, monitoring and support of patients through the research process as well as providing research support as necessary to study teams and clinicians.
  • The role involves collecting accurate data, management of tissue or other biological samples, carrying out clinical assessments, document generation and control, and ensuring research is conducted in compliance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP), current legislation and research governance standards.
  • You will be trained to support a variety of research studies and working in conjunction with the research and development team, will co-ordinate, facilitate and manage day to day activities for concurrent research studies across a diverse range of specialties.
  • Main duties include managing the implementation of research protocols, identification, recruitment, monitoring and support of patients through the research process as well as providing research support as necessary to study teams and clinicians.

Education/Qualifications/Training

Essential

  • Relevant professional qualification (e.g. Registered Nurse or Paramedic) or degree in a relevant subject


Continuous Professional Development

  • Willing to undertake training
  • Venepuncture skills or a willingness to undertake venepuncture training


Previous Experience

Essential

  • At least 3 years' experience working in a health or social care setting.
  • Awareness of GDPR and data protection issues related to NHS research
  • Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Experience of research in a healthcare setting
  • Experience of public speaking
  • Experience of report writing


Desirable

  • Understanding of research design, methodology and application to enable data collection
  • Previous supervision experience
