We are seeking a highly motivated, experienced, dynamic and inspirational senior midwife to join our practice development team.
You will have an extensive evidence based, clinical knowledge, high level communication and organisational skills, and be able to work closely with other agencies and the multi-disciplinary team.
Fixed term post for 12 months.
Secondment opportunity will also be considered.
Main duties of the job
Provide positive clinical midwifery leadership, empowering midwives to utilise their skills and evidence available to develop midwifery practice within the Trust.
Develop a system of support within the clinical area for newly qualified midwives, newly appointed midwives, and existing midwives working within the Trust including the development of a robust preceptorship package, and facilitate practice learning to the highest quality through teaching, assessing, administration, and practice-based work whilst supporting the Trust's Clinical Governance Agenda.
You will have an extensive evidence based, clinical knowledge, high level communication and organisational skills, and be able to work closely with other agencies and the multi-disciplinary team.
You will need to be able to demonstrate recent clinical experience, have the requisite level of competencies at band 7 and provide evidence of on-going professional development. Further education is encouraged, including support to attend relevant courses to maintain personal and professional development to meet service needs.

- Be responsible for personal and professional development of all staff and learnerswithin the Maternity Department.
- Work in close collaboration with external agencies with the clinical and organisational multidisciplinary team of the Trust and link with Higher Education Institutions to influence educational strategy and student support and engagement.
- Working with senior midwifery team and multidisciplinary Team in taking forward and shaping the future of midwifery practice in the light of the local, national and professional agenda.
- Play a pivotal role in education provision within the Maternity department.
- Be a proficient, approachable role model in addition to an expert clinician in the field of Midwifery, with a proven track record of clinical achievement.
- Promote a positive, open and honest culture within the department.
- Identify areas for role expansion and staff development within the service in order to ensure the delivery of high quality maternity care designed to meet client need.
- Provide appropriate support and assistance to staff involved in and interested in undertaking research or practice development projects.
