The borough has three main bases for School Nursing that are aligned to Family Hubs and health centres and the teams are working towards a more integrated service offer.

H& F form part of the Inner Northwest London (INW) division and part of a Clinical Service Unit (CSU) that compromises of Hammersmith and Fulham Health visiting & School Nursing 0-19, Westminster Health Visiting, Kensington and Chelsea Health Visiting and an integrated 0-19 SPA.

There are three teams in the borough that are split geographically, North South and Central which will be managed by the School Health team lead.

The borough has an experienced clinical lead who oversees Health Visiting and School Nursing and specialist health visitors covering perinatal mental health, SEND, MESCH and infant feeding. Each team has an experienced team lead each, qualified health visitors, community staff Nurses, nursery Nurses, dedicated practice development Nurse and are aligned to early help staff. This skill mix works passionately to deliver integrated and progressive services and continue to seek and develop innovative ways of working.

Main duties of the job

To provide clinical and professional leadership and manage 5-19 public health nursing (school nursing) teams, ensuring the delivery of a comprehensive and high quality needs led service.

To plan, organize and evaluate an innovative public health service, and where appropriate, delegate to other members of the team to ensure delivery of a high quality service

To provide a skilled, effective and evidence based public health service to the school aged population in a variety of school or community settings.

To collaborate with team colleagues in order to deliver the Quality Strategy objectives.

To develop leadership and management skills in others supporting teams to be involved in planning, implementing and evaluating services

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Nurse/Registered Midwife
  • Specialist Community Public Health Nurse / or Differing in Practice in school nursing
  • Current NMC registration
  • Evidence of continuing post-registration education and training
  • Practice Assessor training


Desirable

  • Evidence of other post registration education and training in specialist areas e.g. Epilepsy, allergies
  • Another related qualification e.g. Teaching
