A new opportunity at Weston Park Cancer Centre for a people-centred, problem-solving individual with a strong background in computing. You will become a crucial part of the radiotherapy team supporting the Clinical Scientists, Therapeutic Radiographers and Clinical Oncologists who oversee the complex and safety critical service we provide to cancer patients in South Yorkshire.

No specific clinical training or experience is required, but the ability to quickly pick up complex ideas and information is essential.

We are looking for someone with a strong background in many aspects of IT and computing, who is highly motivated to bring their skillset to bear in this fascinating and fast-moving scientific service.

Main duties of the job

First point of contact for troubleshooting IT issues in the clinical systems associated with radiotherapy physics.

Data-related activities: generating reports.

Supporting maintenance of complex hardware and virtualized IT systems.

Devising materials for and providing training to clinical staff.

About us

You will be working for an organisation which values and respects all of its staff and the community it serves. The Trust is a leader in the NHS and research sectors and provides excellent benefits for its staff. This includes commitments to professional development but also many policies to support employees in balancing their personal and professional lives.

The Radiotherapy Physics Department at Weston Park Cancer Centre is a team of nearly 50 Engineers, Technicians, Dosimetrists and Medical Physicists (Clinical Scientists) who work together to support the delivery of advanced radiotherapy treatments to 4,000 cancer patients per year - the fifth largest service in England.

This scientific service has to be efficient, precise, and completely safe and depends increasingly on computer systems at every stage of the patient's pathway. Often, but not always, we are behind the scenes, working closely with Therapeutic Radiographers and Consultant Clinical Oncologists to provide individualised treatment plans for every patient.
