An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Band 6 Service Psychologist, to join the Alkaptonuria Team. We are based in the Edwards Building on the Royal Liverpool Hospital campus. .
Alkaptonuria is a rare disease, resulting in challenges in detection and appropriate treatment. The National AKU Centre was established by the Department of Health Specialist Commissioning Services in 2012 and was set up to provide assessments and treatments for people with AKU.
We are a diverse team, knowledgeable and welcoming, working in an open plan office, creating an ideal atmosphere for peer support and sharing of best practice.
This is an excellent career opportunity for service psychologist with an Undergraduate degree in psychology, with proven experience of managing caseloads independently. Experience working with patients affected by rare diseases would be an advantage.

Main duties of the job
To communicate with patients in the context of assessment, and with colleagues in the AKU service.o Knowledge of which assessment methods are likely to be most appropriate and helpful.o When appropriate, to communicate this understanding in meaningful ways to colleagues.o Assistance in the evaluation of the service including auditing and continuing appraisal of the best forms of service delivery.o Advising the service managers re: issues, policies, etc, which affect the client group

- Supervised postgraduate experience in neuropsychological assessment.
