Guy's and St. Thomas are excited to announce we have a vacancy for a band 7 senior specialist bariatric dietitian to join our service. We are looking for an experienced dietitian to join our fast paced obesity team here at GSTT. You will be playing a vital role in assessing patients before and after bariatric surgery including nutritional assessment, risk management, assessing psychological wellbeing, and utilising behaviour change skills.
Our team of three bariatric dietitians facilitate group education for bariatric surgery patients, as well as group education for patients taking GLP-1 agonist medications. You will be supporting patients on 1:1 basis in clinics, both face-to-face and virtual (video and telephone).
Main duties of the job
You can choose to work remotely from home for some of the week, from the hospital, or a combination of both, delivering the online interventions, as well as delivering face-to-face clinics, groups and clinics. You will work 09:00-17:00 or you can work a 9 day working fortnight. You will be on site 2 days a week for face-to-face clinical work.
You must have a depth of experience working with patients living with obesity, including key diet and lifestyle advice, GLP1 management and bariatric surgery. You must have a developed understanding of weight bias and stigma in both healthcare and everyday life.

Our multi-disciplinary team here at GSTT includes consultants, specialist dietitians, specialist nurses, a psychologist and a psychiatrist.
In addition to Tier 4 (bariatric surgery services), we work closely with the wider obesity services at GSTT (Tier 2 and 3 services), which is 45 team members strong. You will play a key role in supporting and supervising junior team members in Tier 3.

- Supporting patients after weight loss surgery, assessing nutritional intake, micro-nutrient status and psychological wellbeing. Clinics are a mixture of face-to-face, video and telephone.
- Facilitating weekly group education for patients preparing for weight loss surgery
- Carrying out multi-disciplinary(MDT) clinics on site at Guys, as part of the weekly Obesity medical obesity clinic.
- Playing a key role in MDT meetings (assessing patients for surgery and supporting best interest decisions).
