- To be an active member of the multidisciplinary community neuro-rehabilitation team, providing highly specialist physiotherapy assessment and treatment.
- To participate in the delivery and evaluation of the, Early Supported Discharge for Stroke service, and Community Neurorehabilitation pathways.
- To be responsible for the education and supervision of junior physiotherapy staff, including rotational staff, rehabilitation assistants and physiotherapy students
Main duties of the job
- To be highly specialised in the assessment and treatment of clients with complex neurological pathologies.
- To undertake highly specialist physiotherapy assessments using evidence-based outcome measures, in a variety of settings i.e. clients home, clinic, community centre, of clients referred to the neuro-rehabilitation team.
- To work clinically within an evidence based framework.
- To be responsible for gaining valid, informed consent for assessment and treatment interventions, and sharing of information following legal and professional guidelines.
- To use advanced clinical reasoning and judgement on a variety of physiotherapy problems which require investigating, analysing and assessing

Job description
Job responsibilities
- To deliver specialist neurophysiotherapy treatments. These treatment techniques may include highly developed physical skills, manual physiotherapy treatment techniques, patient education, home exercise programmes, electrotherapy techniques, functional electrical stimulation, splinting and other physiotherapy treatment techniques.
- Build up and maintain key relationships with referring including GPs, acute providers, Bedded Services, District Nurses, Wheelchair Services, Speech & Language therapy and other services across CLCH to facilitate appropriate referrals and an understanding of the role of the occupational therapy and the multi-professional team
- To use a client-centred goal setting approach to aid the provision of individual physiotherapy treatments and programmes

Education/Qualification
Essential
- Educated to degree level with appropriate post graduate qualification in relevant clinical area
- HCPC registration
- Evidence Of CPD relevant to the treatment of people with neurological conditions
Desirable
- Member of specialist interest group i.e. ACPIN/AGILE
- MSC in appropriate clinical area.
Experience
Essential
- General experience at junior level and substantive experience at senior level in neurology.
- Postgraduate experience of working in a multi professional team
- Experience in teaching and training
Desirable
- Experience of working in a community setting
- Experience of working in a NHS service
- Experience of research and clinical audit
Skills and Knowledge
Essential
- Advanced skills in the assessment, treatment and discharge planning of people with complex neurological conditions that may present with behavioural, cognitive and/or language problems
- Knowledge and understanding of relevant National and Local guidelines and frameworks
- Advanced communication and report writing skills, in both verbal and written format
- Knowledge and understanding of clinical governance and risk management
- An understanding of the importance of involving service users in their treatment and in service development
