The post holder will be part of a team based at Morriston Hospital that provides front line services for the repair, maintenance and calibration of a wide range of medial devices used across wards and departments.

They will have the requisite knowledge and skills to work independently with a range of medical devices, including 'complex' and 'non-complex' electrical medical equipment including service checks, PPM (Planned Preventative Maintenance) checks, safety checks and calibration of such equipment (e.g. infusion devices, cardiac monitors, temperature measuring devices, OBS observation devices) and also varied medical gas appliances (e.g. flowmeters, regulators and suction units)

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

They will have the knowledge to differentiate between technical and clinical problems and have the autonomy to deal with issues within the remit of the post but refers more complex problems to suitably qualifiedcolleagues.

The post holder will also help plan and organise the calibration of the departments test equipment used on complex and non - complex medical test equipment including gas test measurement appliances.

The post holder will be expected to carry out their duties within the workshop environment and in clinical environments i.e. Hospital wards, Theatres and Critical Care areas. The post holder will also be expected to train end users in the use of medical gas and suction equipment and some complex and non - complex electro-medical devices.

The post holder will be based at Morriston Hospital, where the major part of the duties will be delivered, but will be expected to work in other parts of the Health Board as required.

Job responsibilities

The post holder will be expected to plan and organise Planned PreventativeMaintenance activity on a wide range of complex and non complex medicalequipment plus also associated medical gas equipment

Responsible for carrying out servicing and repairs of more complex medicalequipment such as Defibrillators, Multi-Parameter Monitoring Equipment,Endoscopic Equipment Diathermy etc, Volumetric and Syringe pumpconfiguration and help with end-user training on a number of more complexmed equipment groups.

Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance PPM responsibilities on a wide range of complex and non- complex medical equipment listed above. Responsible for stock management and reordering of stock associated withtheir allocated complex and general medical equipment

Provide senior MEMS management with advice on the upgrading andreplacement of all medical gas equipment plus general electrical medicalequipment within the remit of the post

Responsible for data entry and accuracy for all records for technicalservicing, repair, commissioning, calibration and disposal on a defined groupof complex and non complex electro medical equipment
