The Cardio-Respiratory department offers a full range of invasive and non-invasive tests, including ECG, Ambulatory monitoring, exercise testing, Pacemaker implant and follow up (including brady and complex devices), diagnostic Angiography, Percutaneous Coronary Intervention and Echocardiography (including Stress and Transoesophageal Echocardiography).

We are looking for someone to work within our Echocardiography service. The successful candidate will ideally be able to scan independently and be working towards their BSE accreditation. A good amount of experience in Echocardiography is required as a minimum. They will also work in tape analysis and as a 2nd in Stress Echocardiography and TOE lists. The successful candidate may also be expected to work in the new Community Diagnostic Hub's in Selby and at Askham Bar.

The Echocardiography department performs ~ 10,000 scans a year. We also have an established scientist led Valve Clinic, Stress Echocardiography service and Paediatric service.

Main duties of the job

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and highly motivated Band 6 Cardiac Physiologist. Applicants should have either a degree in Cardiac Physiology or equivalent, or are currently studying on a Scientist training Programme - entering their final year of study.

The department is committed to continuing professional development, with many staff undertaking post graduate and professional qualifications.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • BTEC HNC/D in MPPM /BSc Hons Clinical Physiology (or equivalent)


Desirable

  • Professional qualification - e.g BSE/BHRS


Experience

Essential

  • Practical experience and familiarity with the range basic and advanced CardioRespiratory investigations
  • Experience of supervising staff


Skills

Essential

  • Ability to communicate complex and sensitive information to consultant physicians.
