Are you looking for a pharmaceutical quality assurance role with pharmaceutical industry standards in an NHS trust? Is so, we have the role for you.

We are looking for a confident and enthusiastic QA/QC Officer to join our Pharmacy Quality Assurance Department at East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation. You will be based at Colchester Hospital, however you will be required to work across at Ipswich Hospital.

You will have GMP experience within a pharmaceutical manufacturing facility. You will be a team player, joining an established department with a multi-disciplinary team. Our team have various professional scientific backgrounds, including different specialities therefore we have a wealth of experience to support your learning and development.

This post is fixed term / secondment until 11th March 2025. Internal applicants currently employed by ESNEFT will be offered on a secondment basis only. This will need to be discussed with your line manager

Main duties of the job

The main duties will include providing support to the Senior QA/QC Specialist, release of manufactured products under the MHRA MS licence, performing Quality Control analysis on raw materials and manufactured products, and maintaining Quality Assurance functions within Pharmacy Technical Services in line with Standard Operating Procedures and current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) requirements.

You will be expected to support the Pharmacy Quality Assurance team in ensuring that the regulatory requirements and standards set by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) are met for the Manufacturing Specials, Clinical Trials and Wholesale dealing licenses held by the Trust.

Person Specification

Experience

Essential

  • Previous experience of pharmaceutical GMP in NHS manufacturing unit or pharmaceutical industry
  • Demonstrated experience of multi- disciplinary working
  • Handling of high risk medicines


Desirable

  • Previous experience of working within Quality Assurance service
  • Previous experience of Aseptic/sterile manufacturing


Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree in Pharmaceutical Science, Pharmacy, Biotechnology or equivalent science degree/certificate


Desirable

  • Member of Royal Pharmaceutical Society, or Royal Society of Chemistry or Royal Society of Biology


Knowledge

Essential

  • Computer Literacy (Microsoft Office-365)
  • Proven knowledge of cGMP
  • Knowledge of laboratory and production facilities SOPs and ability to write new SOPs
  • Understand the principles of ALCOA plus


Desirable

  • Knowledge of legislation relating to the manufacture and distribution of human medicines
  • Good clinical knowledge
  • Knowledge of Quality Control principles
