We are seeking for scrub practitioners, preferably with ophthalmic experience to work in our dedicated Ophthalmic Theatres. As one of the largest Eye hospitals in Europe we have a very busy, but hugely varied suite of five operating theatres dedicated to eye surgery.As a Centre for Excellence in Eye Surgery we need staff who have proven skills and are able to care for patients using our Trust core values of working together, dignity in care, everyone matters and being open and honest. We are also unique as we care for patients of all ages, from neonates to the elderly. You will need to be adaptable and responsive to apply your skills and care to all our patients.The Eye Hospital is part of the Manchester Foundation Trust so has access to all the facilities and support this can offer. We have excellent working relationships with our colleagues across all areas of the Eye Hospital, as well as other theatres across the Trust.We show care for our staff through excellent development and progression opportunities. These start with a comprehensive induction programme, but don't end there. Experienced nurses and ODP's will be encouraged to expand their knowledge, skills and competencies through a wide range of internal and external courses. Main duties of the job
The post holder will work primarily within Manchester Royal Eye Hospital Theatres but may occasionally be required to work within theatres at other hospitals within the trust.
The post holder is responsible for ensuring immediate care to the client group and will work primarily within the Theatre Department. The post holder will prioritise, assess, plan, evaluate and deliver all relevant aspects of care to an agreed and expected high standard. Work closely with the multi-disciplinary team and contribute to the clinical governance process. Act as a mentor/preceptor to junior staff, with specific responsibility for pre-registration students. Participate fully in a structured competency-based programmes, as required.
The post holder will take delegated responsibility for the management of the clinical team on a shift basis, taking overall responsibility for effective management of the team and the maintenance of high standards of quality care to the client group.
