In this role you will be involved in leading education and student facilitation, you will mentor and guide the next generation of students, apprentices, and healthcare professionals, ensuring they develop the skills and confidence needed to excel in a fast-paced clinical environment. You will work closely with students, apprentices, and new staff, providing planning, co-ordination and hands-on training, assessments, and feedback, to foster their professional growth. You will also build close links with partner universities and local education providers.

Main duties of the job

  • The post holder will have a thorough understanding of the Occupational Therapy/Physiotherapy role within the wider Therapies team and be willing to link with all Occupational Therapy/Physiotherapy staff to gain knowledge across all areas of the Therapies Team.
  • To work autonomously as a specialised practitioner within their area of speciality and act as a role model to ensure that students on placement at UHNM aspire to this level of expertise.
  • To work with the Divisional Therapy Leads and Head of Therapies at County to provide pastoral care and support for the current undergraduate Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy students/apprentices/senior and junior support workers.
  • To work with the Trust to develop clear Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy pathways via multiple training routes and advise on staff professional development and career progression from B2- B8.
  • To link with partner HEIs for both professions to develop placement learning outcomes and competency frameworks that reflect clinical developments and the changing needs of the profession.
  • To maintain an up to date knowledge of the development of Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy education.

Education & Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree/ Diploma in Physiotherapy/Occupational Therapy
  • Registered with HCPC


Desirable

  • Evidence of higher level study at Master's level or working knowledge and experience at an equivalent level


Experience

Essential

  • Portfolio of certified/accredited professional development activity undertaken in relevant areas
  • Experience of delivering training programmes and presentations to various levels of staff


Desirable

  • Experience of working across boundaries to develop networks with key stakeholders
  • Experience of working to promote student placements and placement expansion


Skills, ability & knowledge

Essential

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office: Word, Excel and Powerpoint
  • Broad base knowledge of a wide range of OT or PT practices related to the acute environment
  • Demonstrable evidence of leadership development


Desirable

  • The ability to integrate theory and practice through the effective development and delivery of learning programmes and events
