An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Practitioner post within the axess East Cheshire service service.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated practitioner who will support clinical delivery mainly within the axess Cheshire East Sexual Health Service and participate in the innovation of the department, and clinical development and support of the junior team.
In axess we provide an integrated and innovative approach to sexual health through combining expertise in contraception & reproductive health, STIs & HIV, system leadership, digital health & postal testing.The service has a mobile clinic that can be adapted for use in health promotion and community events. The post holder will provide a high standard of integrated sexual healthcare to all our patients including young people and LGBTQI+ groups and will have experience and knowledge of safeguarding practice and procedures (children and adult).
Annex 21 will be considered for this role.
Main duties of the job
This is an excellent opportunity for the successful candidate to develop their existing skills and to gain experience in a challenging, expanding, and complex sexual health environment. All training will be provided, and a band 6 annex would be considered.
You will have significant experience in an integrated sexual health setting managing your own workload and ensuring clinical delivery is safe and effective. You will also have desirable skills in HIV prevention and in managing and treating people living with HIV.
As part of your role, you will oversee the capacity and flow of the clinical delivery on a day-to-day basis. This includes supporting the ACP in clinical training, education and mentoring of staff and other healthcare professionals in addition to supporting the clinical manager with the development of clinical policies and procedures.
You will participate at local and regional (Cheshire and Mersey) level and liaise with colleagues across the axess sexual health community.

As we look to improve capacity for our patients, and drive the expanding service forward, we need to consider new ways of working. To this end, we feel that specialist senior clinical skills and good clinical co-ordination is essential as part of the on-going access for patients and to assure the patient journey is effective and correct.
Main duties of the role:
1. As an autonomous practitioner undertake independent consultations with patients, including assessing, monitoring, and evaluating individual patients contraceptive and sexual health needs with referral to other Health Professionals as required.
2. Issue methods of contraception and provide STI screening and treatment according to Patient Group Directions & clinical protocols. In addition, provide chlamydia screening in accordance with NCSP (under 25yr olds)
3. Encourage partners attendance and treatment when necessary.
4. Provide advice and provision around cytology screening and HIV prevention as appropriate, according to local policies.
5. Work flexibly within community and clinical settings.
6. To be aware of all the Directorate and Trust Policies and Guidelines and ensure all actions are carried out accordingly.
7. Support colleagues and when necessary, take responsibility for the smooth running of the day-to-day provision.
Thesuccessful post holder will work closely with the Clinical Managers and the Advanced Nurse Practitioner to ensure that the clinical training plans for Nurses/APs and HCAs are maintained and progressed.
Clinical Managers will liaise throughout the day/ week with the senior practitioners who will ensure all necessary duties are escalated to them.

- First level Registered Nurse/Midwife
- Contraception (family planning) i.e. ENB R71/901
- Higher qualification in genitourinary medicine or willingness to undertake
- Completed or currently studying at degree or masters level (health related)
- Post registration certification in mentorship / teaching and assessing (ENB 998/997 or equivalent)
- A willingness and ability to work towards completion of specialist / advanced training and hold Certification in IUD insertion (RCN or FFPRHC)
- Completion of specialist / advanced training and hold Certification in subdermal implant fitting and removal (RCN or FFPRHC)
- Willingness to undertake nurse prescribing course
