We are a Neuro-Psychology led team and consist of Occupational Therapy, Speech & Language Therapy, Neuro Psychology, Rehabilitation Assistant, Physiotherapy and Case Management supported by Clinical and Team Leads. The service supports patients in a variety of settings with the aim of maximising independence and is focussed around individual goal planning.

An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Community Acquired Brain Injury Service to recruit a Speech & Language Therapist wanting to employ and/or develop their specialist skills in the area of Acquired Brain Injury Rehabilitation.

Main duties of the job

The role will support the time-limited rehabilitation of adults following acquired brain injury (ABI) and who are registered with a Cumbria Commissioned GP and may require county wide input to patients on occasions. Referrals come from a variety of sources including Acute and community based and specialist tertiary centres, self-referral and adult social care. The post holder will have close working relationships with a diverse range of other services including other community services, Acute Care, Mental Health services, Adult Social Care and third sector providers and charitable organisations and may be required to work within a variety of settings, including the patient's own home. You will work both alongside other qualified therapy staff as well as autonomously to pre-set rehabilitation programmes and deliver a service to patients in their own homes supported by other AHP and team members.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate their ability to work within a changing environment, in high pressure situations and will be autonomous, self-reliant, resilient and possess effective inter-disciplinary working skills. Within the trust the role has links with other Speech and Language Therapists and Professional Lead for Speech & Language Therapy as well as the wider AHP community and will be expected to participate in supporting student placements and other training requests specific to ABI.
