We would be happy to discuss creating a bespoke role that allows some flexibility for continuing to be connected to your core profession. We can help you access supervision from a senior clinician from the same professional background and look to you having protected time for CPD and development opportunities and for carrying out core tasks related to your profession. We have strong links with senior leaders of a variety of professions, the community OT team, and Haringey Council and would be happy to discuss how these links could be embedded in your role.

Main duties of the job

The MAP Pathway is an innovative, leading service in the treatment of complex anxiety and depression (with underlying Cluster C PD traits).

We focus on helping our service users to increase functioning and meaningful activity. We do this by prioritising the therapeutic relationship and seeking to understand and treat the relational dynamics that keep a person stuck.

We offer practical support where needed but also working therapeutically to encourage their own agency.

The service adopts a trauma-informed approach which is embedded in all of our work.

Understanding the social needs of our patients is essential to our work and you will take a lead on integrating this into the treatment offered by the pathway.

In order to meet the needs of the new Partnership services you may be required from time to time to work at different locations to your normal place of work. Job responsibilities

Essential to the functioning of the MAP Pathway is a shared responsibility approach. All risk issues and clinical decisions are held as a team and there are multiple forums each week to discuss such issues with the rest of the team which is containing and fulfilling for staff. The team offers a variety of interventions, such as therapeutic groups and individual psychological, and social interventions. The MAP Leadership team has a tripartite structure consisting of psychology, psychiatry, and nursing/social work/OT which helps to ensure all approaches are equally valued. You will hold caseload of service users with complex difficulties and offer psychologically informed social support, care coordination. There will also be opportunities to run therapeutic groups.

Qualifications/ Registrations

Essential

• Core health professional qualification (nursing, social work, occupational therapy, psychology) and registration with the appropriate professional body (NMC, HCPC, Social Work England etc).

Skills/ Abilities

Essential

• Able to manage a caseload of clients with complex needs.
• Able to contribute to the development of intervention and support for the identified patient group and their families
• Able to undertake comprehensive risk assessment and implement and evaluate risk management plans
• Able to communicate complex information to patients, carers other health professionals and team.
• The ability to discuss clinical reasoning in the management of complex cases
• Able to build constructive relationships with warmth and empathy, using good communication skills
• Excellent ability to work effectively in a team environment
• IT skills, including using hospital data systems.

Desirable

• IT skills - Ability to use spread sheets and computerised systems
• Knowledge of the frameworks and legislation relating to the client group including those with No Recourse to Public Funds

Experience/ Knowledge

Essential

• Experience and ability to work collaboratively within MDT as a Care Coordinator
• Working with patients with severe and complex mental health problems
• Knowledge of evidenced based practice pertaining Mental Health as a speciality

Desirable

• Experience of managing a caseload of patients with complex difficulties
• Experience of facilitating groups for people with mental health difficulties
• Experience of working with complex mental health presentations including Personality Difficulties
• Experience of working with people with severe and enduring mental health problems in a community setting.
• Experience of working with psychological therapists and an interest in psychological approaches
• Experience of working in a therapeutic-focused and traumainformed way
