We are looking for enthusiastic, highly motivated individual to join the senior team on Ward 1& 3. This is a busy Orthopaedic Trauma ward caring for Older people.
It is a busy ward which strives for excellence. We actively embrace change to improve services for our patients, whilst ensuring the environment is conductive and ripe for supporting nurses educationally and managerially.
The job will involve leading a team, being Nurse in Charge, promoting excellent standards of Nursing Care following the Best Practice Guidelines for patients with Hip Fractures, Managing the ward and holding the unit bleep in the absence of Ward manager.
We are looking for someone with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a flexible approach who is forward thinking, committed and keen to drive forward high standards of nursing care, invest in the development of the team, lead on quality improvement projects, improving the patient experience and be able to facilitate care that is safe and delivered with care and compassion.

Main duties of the job
- Co-ordinating the activities of the ward/departmental team to ensure the highest standard of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of individualised holistic patient care in conjunction with the multidisciplinary team, to the standards set out in Essence of Care.
- Encouraging an environment of empowerment through coaching, teaching and facilitating.
- Managing the ward/department in the absence of the Senior Sister / Charge Nurse.
- Supporting alongside the specialist Neck of Femur nurse to ensure best practice tariff is met.
- Holding the unit bed bleep and supporting all the orthoapedic areas.
- At all times to work in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct. Ensure the nursing activities within the ward/unit reach the required professional standard. Co-ordinate the ward team's education / training / skill mix.
- Maintain the highest standards of patient care at all times. Provide leadership and support to all members of the team, and ensure they are conversant with the Trust's nursing policies.
- Complete necessary training for the scope of professional practice relevant to your clinical area.
- Ensure that treatment protocols and procedures are followed and supervise junior staff doing the same.
- Act as a clinical resource, transferring techniques, skills and talents to members of the nursing team.
