As the next phase of the Think 111 First service, NHS England have launched a major new campaign to encourage the use of the 111, Press 2 service for mental health.

Locally, in North Central London this service is hosted in partnership by Barnet Enfield & Haringey Mental Health NHS Trust and Camden & Islington NHS Foundation Trust. This hub, based at St Ann's Hospital will provide a 24/7, all-age service for people who need advice and support with a mental health need.

As part of the new hub, you will also have the opportunity to support the Mental Health Clinical Advice Line for Police with their often-difficult Section 136 decisions, and where appropriate signposting them to alternatives to the use of Section 136 across London.

This is a fabulous opportunity to be part of these new and re-designed services in NCL through supporting the expansion of the Crisis Single Point of Access offer across North Central London.

The roles will be supported by a robust clinical and managerial leadership structure which will encourage professional development for those seeking to expand their clinical experience.

Main duties of the job

  • The post holder will be skilled in assessment, risk assessment and possess sound decision-making skills for people in mental health crisis, managing professional boundaries and knowing how to respond to escalations to enable formulations of crisis safety plans from junior colleagues.
  • The post holder will be experienced in delivering a range of interventions to alleviate distress. They will be expected to work under minimal supervision, with adherence to Trust procedures and policies, and to employ value based and socially inclusive practice.
  • The post holder will act as an effective role model and supervisor to junior members of the team to ensure they work to high standards.

In order to meet the needs of the new Partnership services you may be required from time to time to work at different locations to your normal place of work. This may mean that you are required to work at any location that fall under Barnet, Enfield and Harringay Trust and Camden and Islington Trust. The Trust reserves the right to require staff to work at such other places or locations as it considers reasonable and necessary on a temporary or permanent basis.

Person Specification

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS

Essential

  • NMC Registration as RMN, or current registration with relevant professional body


Desirable

  • Mentorship qualification or equivalent.
  • Evidence of post registration training.


Experience

Essential

  • Minimum of 18 months post qualification experience.
  • Previous experience as a clinician in an acute or community mental health setting.


Desirable

  • Ability and experience in dealing with developing and implementing systems that support clinical excellence.


KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

Essential

  • Ability to implement policies and procedures, leading their implementation where appropriate.
  • Able to evidence current and practice knowledge of legal, social, clinical, managerial and policy issues related to the clinical specialty and the wider NHS.


Desirable

  • Knowledge of a full range of therapeutic skills and approaches supported by further training in the specialty and management practice
