This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and forward thinking Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist to provide clinical leadership to the MSK AHP Hands team.

You will be part of a team committed to providing and developing a high performing service, working in close partnership with the clinical and MSK AHP leadership team.

This role will evaluate the current pathways in our service and recommend areas where this can be improved for both the patient and the effectiveness of the service.

We want to build on a culture of continuous learning and ensure that staff of all grades are given the opportunity to grow and develop through education and new experiences.

MSK AHP Clinical Services has a new five-year strategy for which clinical leadership across the system will be crucial. You will be given the opportunity to lead and will be supported in your continued development in the process.

Main duties of the job

Accountable for the delivery of high-quality therapy care within a defined clinical area or pathway.

Responsible as a first-contact clinician in consultant outpatient clinics for diagnosing the condition, screening for serious pathology and either booking for surgery, referring to another consultant or referring for conservative treatment.

Responsible for providing expert clinical practice with advanced clinical reasoning and support to staff.

Provide clinical leadership to develop staff within the remit.

Lead evaluation and development of clinical practice within the specialism ensuring compliance with national and local guidelines and frameworks.

Develop the evidence base for practice through audit, clinical effectiveness and research activity and support.

Qualifications

Essential

  • BSc in Physiotherapy
  • Current HCPC Registration
  • Postgraduate Diploma at Masters level in relevant subject to this post or equivalent knowledge and skills accumulated through formal training and experiential learning.


Desirable

  • Master's degree in relevant Speciality
  • Non-Medical Prescribing
  • BAHT Level 3


Experience

Essential

  • Extensive experience as a qualified therapist.
  • Significant experience at Specialist level in relevant specialty.
  • Clinical Educator
  • Participation in Clinical Audit & Practice Development
  • Supervision and line management of Therapy staff including appraisal.
  • Professional Presentations
  • Experience in emergency respiratory on call including weekend work (PT only)
