This is a full-time position 6 month maternity cover from Monday-Friday 8am to 18pm, 4 days a week with a rotational day off.

We have an exciting opportunity available to join the team in the pain procedure room at the pain management centre. The post holders will work as a member of the pain multi-disciplinary team co-coordinating the pain list for non sedated patients, recovery of patients and will be trained to support pain procedures.

Essential to this post is the maintenance of clinical excellence and theatre experience underpinned by evidence based practice.

Main duties of the job

The post holder is responsible for assessment of care needs of patients,planning programmes of care, implementation and evaluation of theseprogrammes without direct supervision. The post holder will be a key member in relation to the development of practice on the ward.

Responsible for the delivering care within a day care procedure room providing nursing support to the medical team in delivery of pain management interventions. Ensuring patients are treated with respect and dignity, also delivery high standards of nursing care.

Job responsibilities

Excellent communication and team working skills are essential as this post requires an appreciation of the complex issues facing patients with chronic pain previous theatre experience/recovery is essential and an ability to show initiative and understanding in providing support and care for these patients.

Clinical DutiesResponsible for carrying out clinical practice within designated clinicalareas, ensuring that high quality, current evidence-based nursingassessment, care planning, implementation, interventions and evaluationsfor patients is provided from admission through to discharge.

Will be responsible for the application of knowledge across the range ofwork procedures and practices, underpinned by theoretical knowledge andpractical experience.

To act as advocate for patients within the area, to ensure a patientorientated approach to the delivery of care and to meet standards withinthe NHS Plan and other relevant guidelines.

To ensure that patients receive high quality clinical care and a goodpatient experience, having regard for their customs, religious beliefs anddoctrines.

Recognise and avoid situations that may be detrimental to the health andwellbeing of the individuals.

Will advise on the promotion of health and the prevention of illness.

Recognise the significance of observations made, and use them todevelop and initiate nursing assessments and devise a plan of care.

Carry out those activities necessary to conduct a comprehensiveassessment of a persons nursing requirements.

Will ensure that all patients will have a discharge plan that is safe andappropriate for their needs.

Carry out nursing procedures and treatments, checking on andmaintaining the highest possible standards.

Work alongside the multi-disciplinary team to ascertain treatments andadvise on nursing priorities.

Take a clear and concise history from patients by assessing their healthand well being and complete documentation ensuring that all entries areaccurate and legible and that all information systems are maintained

Qualification

Essential

  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • RN1/ RN2/ RN12 or RN Child Registered Nurse on the NMC register. To hold the appropriate level for the area of speciality.
