An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Specialist Nursing team as the Heart Valve Specialist Nurse, working within our fast paced, dynamic team. Within the role you will:

Work as part of the TAVI and valve team to deliver specialist nursing input whilst managing a caseload of patients in the acute and clinic setting across all Frimley Health sites.

Autonomously provide specialist nursing care for all TAVI and valve patients including pre-assessment, work up for TAVI and valve intervention, and active participation in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings to improve the management of TAVI and valve patients.

Ensure patients undergoing TAVI and valve surgery are supported by providing clinical and educational information in addition to counselling them and their families throughout their journey.

Ensure patients under surveillance for valve disease are reviewed as appropriate, are kept informed regarding their condition, and have a point of contact should their condition change.

Provide a seamless service between primary and secondary care, and across acute Frimley Health sites.

Assist in the development of evidence based clinical nursing practice in line with current research and guidelines.

Work closely with all healthcare teams to increase knowledge and facilitate the care of the TAVI and valve of patients in primary and secondary care.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Current First Level Nursing and Midwifery Council Registration or other relevant professional qualification dependent on discipline
  • Advanced Life Support Certificate Have post graduate qualification in Clinical assessment skills in medicine
  • Post graduate cardiac course/module


Desirable

  • Independent non-medical prescribing
  • MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice
  • Heart failure module


Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working autonomously in a cardiac specialist nurse role at least band 6 level
  • Substantial experience of teaching and supervising of junior staff


Desirable

  • Experience working with TAVI and valve patients
  • Experience working in an acute cardiac setting
  • Experience caring for heart failure patients
