A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a qualified Mental Health Practitioner to join our evolving MHP team within the Norfolk Wellbeing IAPT Service. This is a varied and interesting role that allows us to meet the needs of a very diverse client group.
There is opportunity to develop specialist interests in specific populations eg; youth, perinatal, long term physical conditions.
We are looking fora dedicated and outcome focused Mental Health Practitionerto join our small team of practitioners. We would welcome applicants that wish to work remotely or part time hours.
The vacancy would suit someone with a core profession with at least 3 years qualified experience as knowledge of the workings of different NSFT teams is valuable. Experience of working within IAPT services is not essential. This role is an excellent opportunity to gain knowledge and experience of an IAPT service and would be a good developmental route into psychological therapy training. The wellbeing service would fully support this with a variety of both internal and external training.
The Wellbeing service is an 8-8, Monday to Saturday service which gives the team some flexibility with the hours that we work, as long as this meets the needs of the service. At present the MHP team works Monday to Friday.Main duties of the job
We are a busy service that invites both professional and self-referrals, and the role of the MHP includes triaging referrals coming into the service.
Opportunities are available to support the staff in the wider service through consultation and training.
Offering specialist screening and assessments as required and ensuring that service users have a positive experience of the service from the time they refer in, whether or not they go on to have treatment with us.
Liaising with other Trust teams and signposting to external agencies where appropriate, to help make treatment journeys as seamless as possible.
Attending interface meetings that happen between IAPT and secondary Mental Health Services, to review clients and make decisions on next steps that will meet their needs.About us
Within the MHP team, we all have a core profession and have had experience of working within secondary care mental health services. We work closing together supporting each other and sharing decisions..
At present much of our work is taking place remotely, our usual base is in Norwich, however there will be a need for the successful candidate to be able to travel throughout Norfolk as required, applicants will need the ability to travel independently.

The Mental Health Practitioner role is to enhance and support the interventions that the Wellbeing service offer. The Wellbeing Serviceis an integrated treatment and recovery service which offers a range of psychosocial interventions to Norfolk residents age 16 years and over.Role Summary
Working collaboratively and effectively within Primary and Secondary Mental Health services as part of the Service specification, providing consultation, training and liaison services to ensure the early intervention of mental health services to people over the age of 16 years.
Providing triage, mental health screenings and assessments to ensure that referrals are allocated to the right pathway and the right service first time.
Attend Multi-disciplinary Interface meetings.
Offer short term therapeutic interventions where clinically indicated, alongside other professionals in order to build their knowledge and capacity.
Have responsibility for the effective management of a small workload of activity and service users referred to the service.
Assisting in the provision of the MHP on-call duty services, that include manning a dedicated MHP email.
Actively participate in personal development of oneself and others including appraisal and supervision processes.
Responsible for supervising the work of students as appropriate and lead in the development of local training initiatives.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESClinical
TrainingTo participate in the development and offer training packages in Norfolk for multi-
- To provide specialist mental health advice and undertake assessments with frontline workers, where the mental health needs of the individual referred cannot be resolved by primary care non specialist workers.
- With staff from other agencies, carry out mental health assessments of people, which will include a systemic formulation and advice on evidence based therapeutic interventions
- To provide referrers and other professionals with written summaries of assessment, formulation and treatment outcomes
- To undertake direct work where clinically indicated using evidence based therapeutic interventions to improve mental wellbeing
- Provide professional advice for those working in Norfolk who require specialist advice and information on a wide range of mental health/wellbeing issues, including duty 9 am to 5 pm (Monday Friday)
- Support the Trust response to external referrals by duty work and by working in partnership with other NSFT clinical teams.
- To maintain clinical and professional responsibility for a defined workload.
- To liaise with colleagues and other professionals or agencies as required, including attending case conferences or planning meetings as part of the Multi agency working model
- To promote clinical effectiveness by the use of clinical protocols and clinical audit.
- To refer service users to alternative care where detailed assessment indicates a different level of service.

REGISTERED HEALTH PROFESSIONAL
- To communicate at a high level with key Stakeholders i.e. GPs and other health and social care professionals
- To convey specialist mental health knowledge and experience to multi-agency professionals through collaborative work and consultation.
- Communicate the outcomes of mental health assessments and include professional judgments on mental health problems within adults to include levels of risk and formulations or treatment plans to mitigate these risks This may include the provision of reports to other agencies where appropriate.
- Provide clinical advice on case information presented by other professionals and collaboratively formulating interventions/plans. This will be done in a variety of settings and agencies with pressures on time and resources for all those involved
- Facilitating appropriate referrals to other pathways in the Service, Integrated delivery teams (IDTs) or signposting to other services.
- To attend and participate in meetings such as multi-disciplinary community meetings, team training events and other relevant meetings.
- To work closely with other members of the clinical team to provide an effective service by updating them on locally based community services.

- The NSFT expects all practitioners to act in accordance with statutory and local policies regarding recognition, reporting, information sharing, record keeping and joint working in relation to the Safeguarding of Children and Adults as outlined in Children Act 1989/2004, Working Together to Safeguard and Promote the Welfare of Vulnerable Children 2010 and No Secrets 2002.
- Ensure that (practitioners / clinicians etc.) when working with service users consider the effects and impact of their mental health and risk behaviours on their families, and provide appropriate support, advice and education for all family members. The needs of children and young people within the household/family should be given special consideration in line with Social Care Institute for Excellences guidance Think Child, Think Parent, Think Family and must always be the priority for NSFT staff across all roles and services.
