We are looking to recruit a suitably experienced Band 5 Occupational Therapist to join the Hope and Resilience Hub Team to work at the Radbourne Unit and Carsington Unit sites.

Occupational Therapists work in the Hope and Resilience Hub team and support the acute inpatient wards. They work with patients to provide therapeutic meaningful activities to support individual's recovery and are committed to delivering high quality, person centred care. We are an evolving team which is open to change and developing new ways of working and have a positive profile within the Trust and with service users and carers.

This role will involve facilitating group work, home assessments to facilitate timely discharge, enabling functional assessments to take place and Wellness and Recovery planning. It is anticipated that this will be achieved through MDT work, representing the team at unit level and within the Trust.

Within the role you will need to have the ability to work independently to develop and deliver a clear OT service for inpatients and support the Occupational Therapy care pathway.

You will need to show initiative, drive and ability to think creatively for solutions.

Therefore, the post holder will be required to be a dynamic clinician and demonstrate a range of skills, including effective communication, empathy, self-awareness and critical, self-reflection skills.

Main duties of the job

The post holder, will be working as part of a team in the Hope and Resilience Hub and link into the acute inpatient wards.

They will work with patients to provide therapeutic meaningful activities to support individual's recovery and are committed to delivering high quality, person-centred care.

The post holder will be expected to adopt the policies and philosophy of the service and provide occupational assessment, and treatment using a range of appropriate interventions based on the recovery philosophy and the Model of Human Occupation.

The role will involve facilitating group work, home assessments to facilitate timely discharge, enabling functional assessments to take place, support acute ward Occupational Therapists and provide Wellness and Recovery planning.

This will be achieved through MDT working representing the team at unit level and within the Trust.

  • Contribute to the delivery of high quality occupational therapy, working as a member of the multi-disciplinary team alongside other members of the MDT.
  • Act as an advocate for individual service users, advising staff regarding occupational therapy approaches in the treatment of people with mental health problems, focussing primarily on the assessment of functional needs.
  • Manage own workload effectively prioritising competing demands with the support of the Senior Occupational Therapists as necessary.
  • Ensure all service users have an up to date care plan that has been negotiated with the service user to meet their individual occupational goals and needs.
  • Provide individual and group interventions and contribute to the development of therapeutic group programmes.
  • Collaborate with all providers of care throughout the health community who are involved in planning, delivering and evaluating care, working flexibly in accordance with the needs of service users and the service as a whole.

Education

Essential

  • Evidence of HCPC registration or pending qualification/HCPC


Desirable

  • Field work educators course
  • Contributing to student education


Clinical Skills

Essential

  • Evidence of Mental Health experience relating to placements
  • Evidence of standardised assessments
  • Evidence of the OT process
  • Evidence of OT models of practice e.g. MOHO or other
  • Apply OT skills e.g. carry out assessments, deliver group work, setting goals
  • Evidence of organisation skills
