We want to do something different that works for Oxfordshire’s service users and to deliver this there is a recognition that we need the skills of Occupational Therapists to help us spearhead the development of our crisis resolution and home treatments services (CRHTT).

We want to recruit Mental Health Occupational Therapists to deliver evidence-based Occupational Therapy assessment and treatment for patients in crisis to prevent admission and to support those who are moving out of inpatient services.

You will have a dedicated caseload and be able to work intensively in people’s homes to support their recovery. You would also be responsible for supervising and directing Band 5 Occupational Therapists, Occupational Therapy apprentices and senior support staff to deliver interventions.

Oxford Health works in partnership with 5 third sector providers as part of the Oxford Mental Health Partnership (OMHP), and the crisis service work closely with partners, in particular Oxfordshire Mind and the Safe Haven services in order to ensure diversity and choice of service for people experiencing a mental health crisis. Crisis Clinicians must have the skills and aptitude to work creatively and proactively with our third sector partners. This provides opportunity for CRHTT Occupational Therapists to create and build occupationally focused community networks with individuals under the care of the team.

The service is currently based in Oxford City but will expand to cover the whole county and inpatient gatekeeping.

We are looking for a band 6 OT with either older adult or adult mental health experience. This is a 7 day service and the role includes working shifts and some unsocial hours to meet the clinical need of the individuals under the care of the team. A variety of shift patterns and working arrangements are available including long days and long nights – we welcome flexible working request.

In return we will offer opportunities for professional development and opportunities to influence and contribute to service development. You will be provided with regular supervision, appraisal and support and linked in to both local and national occupational therapy and AHP networks.
