This is an exciting opportunity to join Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust and play a key role in helping to provide an effective and efficient ambulance service to the people across the Yorkshire and Humber region.
The Trust's busy fleet team is seeking experienced, confident and highly skilled mechanics to join the in-house team and support the delivery of their maintenance and repair services for all emergency and non-emergency vehicles. The Trust is looking to employ to positions at our Leeds workshop.
The Skilled Motor Vehicle Mechanic post is a Monday to Friday day position, 7.5 hours per day (Weekly rotating shift pattern 07:00 - 15:00 / 09:00 - 17:00).
Main duties of the job
You will work under the supervision of the Sub-Workshop Manager or on own your initiative to ensure that all motor vehicle repairs, pre-planned maintenance and servicing are completed within an accurate timescale and in a cost-effective manner.
You will be responsible for diagnosing faults in vehicles and equipment, making informed decisions as to the extent of the repair or replacement of faulty units. In addition, you will be responsible for the servicing, repair and preventative maintenance of all vehicles owned or operated by the Trust and maintenance/repair of third party vehicles as instructed by the Sub-Workshop Manager.
You will also be required to supervise trainees, staff on secondment and outside contractors within the workplace.

- Current holder of a C1/D1 Driving licence and/or experienced in driving vehicles larger than a family saloon car, or prepared to achieve this qualification within 12 months of starting employment.
- Full UK driving licence and able to meet the Trust requirement of no more than 3 penalty points.
- Qualified to HNC/BTEC or City & Guilds in Mechanical/Electrical maintenance and repair or able to demonstrate the equivalent level of technical knowledge and experience gained through post apprenticeship training or similar.
